There are a number of transportation options for seniors throughout College Park and its neighboring cities. Explore all of your options below.
City of College Park Senior Services
Priority is given to transportation requests for local medical appointments, Monday thru Friday within Prince George’s County and a 8 mile radius of College Park, with some exceptions. Due to demand, requests for transportation to medical appointments are best made as soon as you know your appointment date and time, with a minimum 2 day notice. To schedule transportation call the City Seniors Program office at 240-487-3614. Be prepared to provide them your name, address, telephone number, date and time you need transportation and the address and telephone number of your destination.
Prince George's County Senior Tranportation Services
Senior County residents may receive free transportation to strategically located group sites for a nutritional lunch and companionship. Any person 60 years of age or older may be eligible, as is a spouse of any age when accompanying the age-eligible spouse. The hours of operation are: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at sites throughout the County. For more information, or to enroll please call 301-699-2696. In addition, County seniors may receive transportation throughout the County for medical purposes, especially dialysis. Residents may call 301-499-8603 up to 7 days in advance to schedule routine medical appointments. Public Transportation

Reduced Fare Senior SmartTrip Card
Seniors aged 65 and up can receive up to a 50% discount for fares on Metrorail, Metrobus, and regional buses that accept SmarTrip. Those with valid IDs can also receive discounted fares on regional bus service providers that accept SmarTrip cards including Prince George's County's TheBus.

Route 1 Ride
Offering transportation along the Route 1 corridor from College Park to Mount Rainier, the Route 1 Ride is an enhanced bus service operated by the Prince George’s County Department of Public Works & Transportation. The Route 1 Ride makes it easy to travel to the College Park Metro Station, IKEA, or any of the great restaurants and shops along the corridor. For more information, please visit www.route1ride.org.
WMATA Metro
The City is served by two WMATA Metro Stations - College Park-UMD, located at 4931 Calvert Road, and Greenbelt, located at 5717 Greenbelt Metro Drive. Both stations are on the Green Line. Use WMATA's trip planner to help planning your trip, www.wmata.com/schedules/trip-planner/

Free University of Maryland Shuttles
Shuttle-UM bus passes are available to City residents for free. Shuttle-UM routes primarily serve the campus. However, there are several weekday routes that go as far as north as Columbia, as far west as Shady Grove and Silver Spring, and as far east as Greenbelt and New Carrollton.
The complimentary passes may be obtained by completing a Shuttle-UM Bus Pass application, and showing a photo ID and proof of City residency at City Hall, 4500 Knox Road. For information on Shuttle-UM routes and schedules, visit https://transportation.umd.edu/shuttle-um.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Neighbors Helping Neighbors College Park is a community of volunteers helping seniors get the services they need to age in place. One of those services is transportation. MetroAccess Paratransit
MetroAccess is a shared-ride, door-to-door, paratransit service for eligible customers whose disability prevents them from using bus or rail. The service provides daily trips throughout the Washington Metropolitan region, including the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. Rides are offered in the same service areas and during the same hours of operation as Metrorail and Metrobus. To receive additional information or apply, click here.
Ride Share Apps
Both Lyft and Uber serve the College Park area with available drivers usually within 10 minutes. Uber, however, also has Uber Assist, which is a program dedicated to ensuring wheelchair accessible vehicles are available. You may download the app for either of these services in the Apple App or Google Play stores.
