The City, County and State all have health and wellness programs and services available to residents of College Park. To help seniors age in place, in the comfort of their homes, these programs help provide services to address nutrition, mobility, mental health, and more.
Medical Equipment and Assistive Technologies
Maryland Equips, a joint initiative between the Maryland Department of Aging and the Maryland Department of Disabilities, distributes free medical equipment and assistive technology to residents. Examples of available equipment includes canes, wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs and toilet safety rails. Senior Advocacy
The City of College Park Seniors Program aids seniors in College Park, ages 62 and above, with one-on-one supportive advocacy and navigation assistance with government entitlement programs. Case management services are provided for vulnerable seniors in need of additional support. The program advocates and assists seniors with:

Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program
Maryland residents who are at least 60 or older who meet these income guidelines. receive coupons which can be exchanged for eligible foods (fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh-cut herbs) at farmers' markets, roadside stands, and community-supported agriculture programs.

Meals on Wheels College Park
Meals on Wheels College Park is dedicated to providing seniors in the community with the support that enables them to remain living in their own homes, where they want to be. This support is typically a nutritious meal, a friendly visit and a quick safety check. For $5 per day and up to five days per week, the organization delivers lunch, dinner, and breakfast for the next morning. Individuals that meet income requirements may qualify for free meals. Mental Health Services
The City of College Park has contracted with Care Solace to assist residents with access to mental health care and social services. Care Solace works to connect individuals with the right resources and appropriate care including assistance with mental health, food, housing, substance use treatment, and affordable medical and dental care. The service is available 24/7/365 in more than 200 languages. Care Solace’s services are free, confidential, and accessible via phone, 888-515-7881, or online at caresolace.com/md-collegepark.
Senior Call Check
The state of Maryland provides a free daily check-in service to residents 65 or older. The service provides a daily telephone call to a participant at a regularly scheduled time. If the participant does not answer their first call, two more automated calls will be made. If those calls go unanswered, an alternative person who is selected by the participant during program enrollment will be called to check on the participant. The failure of the participant and alternate to answer will result in a call to your local non-emergency service. For more information or to apply, visit the Maryland Department of Aging's website.
Prince George's County Senior Care Program
The Senior Care Program provides services for seniors who may be at risk for nursing home placement. Services can include personal care, chores, adult day care, financial help for medications, medical supplies, respite care, home delivered meals, emergency response systems, transportation, and others.
To qualify, an individual must:

State Health Insurance Assistance Program
The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) provides free, objective, and confidential help to Medicare beneficiaries and their families. Maryland Access Point (MAP) - Support Services Portal
MAP is older adults' link to health services, housing support, and other important resources. MAP specialists work with individuals with long-term care needs to plan, identify, connect, and assist with accessing private and public resources for long-term services and supports. These include information on health, transportation, income, financial aid, senior and community centers and clubs, nutrition and meals, pharmacy assistance, housing, volunteer opportunities, and more!
MAP also offers Options Counseling, a service through which all individuals and their caregivers, plan and make informed decisions regarding their long-term care. Trained, professional Options Counselors use a person-centered approach and support individuals by matching their needs, preferences, and values with services in their community, developing a personalized action plan, getting connected to resources, making referrals to appropriate agencies, and planning for current and/or future needs.
